Why Vero Beach Homeowners Choose Mr-Glass Windows & Doors

We provide independent Mr-Glass windows and doors service in Vero Beach, and we’ve been doing it long enough to know exactly where these units fail after years of Treasure Coast salt air. TruePane Windows & Doors is not an authorized Mr-Glass dealer or affiliate. We’re the local crew that fixes Mr-Glass products correctly when the original installer is gone or the warranty has lapsed. Our techs have cut out failed Mr-Glass glazing beads, rebuilt Mr-Glass roller tracks, and rebalanced Mr-Glass sashes across Vero Beach and Indian River County for over a decade. Call (772) 279-7983 if you’ve got a Mr-Glass window or door that’s fogged, dragging, leaking, or simply not closing the way it did ten years ago. We’ll tell you plainly whether it’s a repair or a replacement, and we’ll stand behind the work in writing. If the pane is not true, the job is not done.

Why Trust TruePane Windows & Doors for Your Mr-Glass Windows & Doors?

We’ve spent more than a decade learning the quirks of Mr-Glass products the hard way: on ladders, in condos off A1A, and inside block homes along the Miracle Mile corridor. Dale Kessler, our owner, grew up near the Indian River Lagoon side of Vero Beach, where the salt air reminds you every season why window seals and frame material matter. He learned fenestration fundamentals at Indian River State College before spending the better part of two decades measuring, setting, and troubleshooting windows and doors on both aging block homes and newer barrier island construction. That background matters when the question is whether a Mr-Glass 7700 double hung needs a $40 balance or a $900 sash.

We keep OEM Mr-Glass parts on the truck for the units we see most in Vero Beach: roller assemblies for 9300 Series horizontal rollers, sash balances for 7600 and 7700 Series units, and weather stripping that matches factory profiles. When an OEM part is no longer manufactured, we use quality aftermarket equivalents with matching glazing bead and extrusion profiles, never a generic substitute that leaves daylight at the sill. Every repair we make is covered by the Done Right Promise. Both warranty layers on any replacement are registered in writing before our truck leaves your driveway. That’s The Keystone Standard, and it applies to Mr-Glass work the same as everything else we do.

Common Mr-Glass Windows & Doors Problems We Fix in Vero Beach

Here’s what we actually see on Mr-Glass products in Indian River County, and what causes it:

  • Fogged insulated glass on 7600 and 7700 Series sashes. The desiccant-filled spacer between panes loses its seal after years of thermal cycling, especially on east-facing elevations where morning sun hits cold glass. Moisture drifts in, the argon escapes, and you get permanent haze between the panes. We replace the insulated glass unit with an OEM or OEM-equivalent Mr-Glass pack and re-glaze the sash without replacing the frame. On barrier island homes with salt exposure on both sides, this is the single most common Mr-Glass call we take.
  • Worn or brittle roller assemblies on 9300 Series horizontal rollers. Mr-Glass 9300 rollers are nylon-tired steel bearings, and salt-laden air eats them. Once the tire cracks or the bearing seizes, the sash drags, jumps track, or refuses to close that last half inch. Left alone, a homeowner forces the sash, which bends the interlock and starts a cascade of frame damage. We stock OEM tandem and single roller assemblies for the 9300 and can usually swap both in under an hour.
  • Sagging or seized casement hinges on 6600 Series impact casements. The 6600 is a well-built unit, but its hinge mechanism sits directly in the salt spray on western and eastern exposures. Corrosion builds at the hinge pin, the sash drops a few degrees, and the compression seal against the frame weather stripping fails. You’ll notice the crank getting harder in the last inch of travel. We disassemble, clean, and rebuild the hinge assembly when the hardware is salvageable, or replace it with factory-spec Mr-Glass hardware when it’s not.
  • Leaking frame corners at the sill. Original foam tape gaskets at the sill corners degrade under Florida UV within eight to twelve years. Water finds its way through, and while the Mr-Glass vinyl frame itself won’t rot, the interior drywall and flooring below it will. We replace the corner seals, check the sill weep system, and reseal the exterior glazing joint so water drains out where it’s supposed to instead of into your house.
  • Broken or fatigued spiral balances on 7600 double hungs. The 7600 uses spiral balances, and when the spring fatigues, the sash won’t stay up. Homeowners often prop it open with a stick, which is a signal to call before the balance cable lets go and the sash drops. We rebalance both sashes at once because if one side is gone, the other is close behind.

Mr-Glass Parts & Our Repair-vs-Replace Approach

We start with OEM Mr-Glass parts when our local suppliers have them in stock, because that keeps the original fit and finish. The weather stripping seats correctly, the roller profile rides the track the way it was designed to, and the balance tension matches the sash weight. For obsolete 7600 and 7700 hardware that Mr-Glass no longer produces, we use aftermarket equivalents with matching profiles. The difference matters. A generic roller with a different tire diameter changes the sash reveal by a few millimeters, and that’s enough to bind the interlock or leave a gap at the meeting rail.

On the repair-versus-replace question, we’re straightforward. We replace glazing when the sash frame is compromised beyond saving, but we don’t recommend tearing out a solid Mr-Glass frame just to fix fogged glass. What we do recommend, when the frame is sound, is upgrading to impact-rated Mr-Glass glass packs. It doubles the window’s storm protection for a fraction of the cost of a full replacement, and it brings the opening closer to Indian River County’s wind-borne debris requirements without opening the wall. If you’re not sure which side your window falls on, call (772) 279-7983 and we’ll look at it.

Our Mr-Glass Service Process - Step by Step

  1. 1
Diagnosis. We inspect the specific Mr-Glass unit, not just the symptom. A foggy 7700 sash gets a seal-failure check, but we also check the balance, the glazing bead, and the frame square before quoting anything. We tell you what’s actually wrong, in plain terms, with the part numbers on the estimate.
  2. 2
Repair or replace. We give you a written, line-item quote that shows OEM versus aftermarket where applicable. For repairs, we confirm parts availability before you commit. For replacements, we quote Mr-Glass product options side by side on paper, including impact-rated upgrades when the original wasn’t.
  3. 3
Test. After we set the glass, swap the rollers, or rebalance the sash, we operate the window or door through its full range of travel at least a half-dozen times. We check compression at the weather stripping, interlock alignment, and drainage at the weep system. Dale’s rule applies here: if it is not right on the day we leave, it is not right.
  4. 4
Warranty registration. We register both manufacturer warranty layers in writing before we leave the driveway. You get the durations stated, in writing, along with our Done Right Promise covering the workmanship. No paperwork fights, no arguing, no fine print that covers neither.

★★★★★

"Impact windows on the whole house. They handled the permit, the inspection, and gave me a folder with every approval number for the insurance company. My windstorm premium dropped enough to notice."

"Whole-house window replacement at 71 years old is not something you want to do twice. Dale walked the house himself for the quote. Crew was the same three men all four days, and the foreman knew every window by room."
