Signs Your Mr-Glass Door Installation Is Failing

• The door drags or catches midway across the track. This is almost always a flattened roller wheel or a bent carriage. Mr-Glass rollers from the mid-2000s used a nylon wheel that hardens and cracks after years of Florida humidity, and once the wheel stops spinning freely, the door starts grinding the track.
• The handle lifts but the latch won’t retract fully. The internal latch spring or the connecting rod inside the door stile has worn. On Mr-Glass units, the spring is a known wear point, and the fix is a new latch assembly rather than lubrication. Lubricating a broken spring just makes the door easier to lock – not easier to open.
• Condensation or haze between the glass panels. The insulated glass unit’s seal has failed. In Vero Beach, where you get ninety-degree days and air-conditioned interiors, the pressure difference pulls moisture in fast once the seal lets go. The only real fix is a new sealed unit made to the original Mr-Glass dimensions.
• The door binds in the frame during July and August. Aluminum expands in heat, and if the original install didn’t leave proper clearance or the frame has settled, the door jams at the top corner. Sometimes it’s an adjustment; sometimes the frame needs resetting. Both should be handled by someone who’s read a rough opening in a block home before.
• A rattle or a soft metallic knock when the door closes. Loose roller tension or a worn anti-lift block. These small parts fail quietly, but they’re also the difference between a door that feels solid and one that rattles every time the wind comes off the ocean.
